Even a week later it feels nearly impossible to express just how incredible the Kingdom of Bhutan was. As I’m sitting in my living room, reflecting on the experience we were all extremely fortunate to have had, I am struck with a whirlwind of emotion. In complete honesty, I am unsure whether I will ever be able to demonstrate exactly how much my perspective on life has been altered since. The way of life in Bhutan is truly so beyond beautiful, and saying it inspired me to look at my life through a different lens is an understatement. From the spiritual and meditative practices to something as simple as the food, ALIVE really was not lying when they said it’s a magical country. The culture is so mesmerizing, and I am filled with so much appreciation to have had the chance to explore it. A huge thank you to our parents, schools, and staff for giving us the opportunity to grow in such a unique and unforgettable way. I think I speak on behalf of all of the students when I say that. Traveling is such a privilege, and we are all deeply grateful for the eye-opening journey we just embarked on. As I previously mentioned, I am feeling a roller coaster of mixed emotions, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t crying right now. The trip, along with the ALIVE staff impacted me in ways I didn’t even think were possible. The encouragement, motivation, and drive pushed me to overcome challenges and see the better in myself. Facing my fear of heights by walking on what seemed like a never-ending suspension bridge was only one of the many obstacles I overcame. All in all, I think we all need to take some time to absorb everything we learned over the course of 12 days. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is one none of us will ever forget.
