The Deep Blue - Bermuda
In this immersive marine science expedition, students work alongside researchers to explore the island’s unique ocean ecosystem. Partnering with the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), students will take part in hands-on research that deepens their understanding of marine ecology, sustainability, and conservation.
The program begins with plankton tows and coring cruises, where students collect and analyze ocean samples, followed by plankton identification in the laboratory to gain insight into the foundation of the marine food web. Through guided off-shore snorkelling excursions, students will explore Bermuda’s vibrant coral reef ecosystem, while also practicing hands-on research skills used by marine scientists.
Another focus of the program is species identification, where students will learn about endemic, native, introduced, and invasive species, examining the delicate balance that defines Bermuda’s biodiversity. The program also tackles the growing issue of microplastic pollution, with students conducting research both on the beach and in the lab, analyzing the impact of plastic waste on marine life.

We believe in learning service and interdependence, small changes in language that has a giant change in values and impact. Ask us more about how we are working to change the typical approach to service.
Programs Designed For Growth
