West End to East End - Grand Bahama, Bahamas
- An Immersive Marine Ecosystem Experience - You Will Be In The Water
- Shore and Offshore Reef Science and Exploration
- Engagement with University of the Bahamas Marine Scientists
- Interact with Local Marine and Cultural Conservation Advocates
- Conservation in the Community - Understanding our Collective Responsibility
It’s not a beach vacation! This unique program allows students to meet passionate conservationists and scientists who are working at the forefront of marine and environmental protection. They’ll learn firsthand the innovative methods being used to restore coral reefs through coral restoration projects and reef balls, as well as efforts to replant mangroves and remove invasive species – and also get involved with some of this important work. Our hope is that students are inspired to learn from local people who are taking vital steps toward preserving the delicate ecosystems of the Bahamas for future generations. We are also aiming to set up an opportunity for our students to work alongside some of the students in the University of Bahamas and connect on the topics of marine biology and ecology.
Our hope is that by engaging with those who are actively making a difference, students will gain a deeper understanding of how each of us plays a part in conservation, and how our actions—big or small—contribute to the health of our world. This program goes beyond a typical tour and challenges students to do a deeper critical exploration into their own sense of place, emphasizing the collective responsibility we all share in protecting the planet.

We are dedicated to changing the way service learning is thought of, planned for, and engaged in. We believe in learning service and interdependence, small changes in language that has a giant change in values and impact. Ask us more about how we are working to change the typical approach to service.
