For the past three Wednesday nights, ALIVE Instructors from many different generations have gathered on Zoom to catch up, show support for one and another and of course, laugh. This past Wednesday our featured event was titled “What Are You Reading?”
A vast subject range is represented in the list below: adventure, critical thinking on society, improving oneself through various avenues, nature connection and issues of justice, to financial planning, and even a book on post-Victorian literature. It’s safe to say, the conversation is always rich with the team.
At ALIVE we place great importance on staying current with society and bringing a diversity of thought to our facilitation and programming. Being a part of Wednesday night’s discussion and looking at the 40 books represented below further reinforces how proud we are to be working with everyone and have a community that continues to help push ALIVE to improve while deepening themselves along the way. Thank you.
* The ALIVE Instructor Team (from all generations) is welcome to join our Wednesday night online cocktail parties. Check your email for details.
We Started the Book Share With The Following Quote:
“Many of us labor under the illusion that control is always good, that it would be dangerous to just let the universe take care of things. But is our control really necessary to the workings of the world? We don’t have to wake up early every morning to remind the universe to make the sun rise; when we turn our backs on the ocean, the universe doesn’t mess up and make the tide go the wrong way. We don’t have to remind our children to grow every year, hold seminars for flowers to explain how to bloom, or to make sure the planets maintain their distance from each other. The universe runs this amazingly complex planet, with all its flowers, trees, animals, winds, sunshine, and everything quite well, yet this is the power we are afraid to surrender into. It may sometimes be hard to find the good or the lesson in a difficult situation; we may wonder why it’s happening. But there is often no other way for the universe to heal us except to present us with tough situations. Try to see it as what it is, rather than what is bad. None of us really know why events happen in our lives. The problem is that we think we should know; but living requires humility, for life is a mystery. All will be revealed in its own time.” (p.186)
